Ryan Gosling leads an unforgettable space mission in ‘Project Hail Mary’, a sci-fi adventure blending emotion, spectacle, and human connection.

Ryan Gosling is heading into deep space—and straight to cinema screens—with ‘Project Hail Mary’, the highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestselling novel. The first trailer has just dropped, and it sets the tone for a thrilling and emotional tale of survival, mystery, and unlikely connection.

In this gripping story, Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a former science teacher unexpectedly drafted by the European Space Agency to investigate a cosmic phenomenon known as “the dimming”, which is rapidly draining stars of their light—including our own Sun. His mission: to reach the Tau Ceti system and uncover why it remains unaffected. But things, of course, don’t go to plan.

What sets ‘Project Hail Mary’ apart is its emotional core. While the trailer hints at high-stakes action and breathtaking visuals, it also introduces a relationship that becomes the heart of the story—one that defies expectations and brings a rare intimacy to the sci-fi genre.

With a script penned by Drew Goddard (The Martian, Cloverfield) and direction by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie), the film promises smart storytelling and visual inventiveness. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Liz Kingsman, and Lionel Boyce.

After the success of The Martian, Weir’s second novel Artemis failed to impress, but Project Hail Mary marked a triumphant return to form in 2021. Now, its film adaptation looks poised to follow in the footsteps of its celebrated predecessor.

Scheduled to hit cinemas in March 2026, ‘Project Hail Mary’ could well become the next great sci-fi epic—one with both brains and heart.
