Becky Armstrong, Margot Robbie, Kendall Jenner, Penélope Cruz and Pedro Pascal step out for Chanel’s penultimate Paris show

On the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel once again took centre stage with one of the most anticipated shows of the season. But this was no ordinary runway. It marked the debut of Matthieu Blazy as the house’s new creative director, following Virginie Viard’s departure in 2024. Set in the Grand Palais, the show signalled the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, with a presentation that combined Chanel’s legacy with a restrained, contemporary edge.

Anticipation buzzed not only around the collection, but also among the front row guests. Becky Armstrong, a familiar face at Chanel, wore a classic look from the maison that, while appropriate, aged her slightly. The choice didn’t quite reflect her youth, though her presence was well received. Pedro Pascal chose a simple blue jumper, a look that failed to stand out. Penelope Cruz arrived in a black leather jacket and cream denim-style trousers — a safe choice that held little surprise. Margot Robbie embraced a bold attitude, sporting a blue look with nothing underneath her bomber jacket. Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner stayed true to her minimalist style in an all-black ensemble, elevated by a deep burgundy handbag — polished and elegant as ever.

Blazy’s collection followed naturally from his July debut, offering a seasonal transition between autumn and spring. Rich, saturated tones blended with deep blacks and earthy neutrals, anchoring the line in a calm, timeless sophistication. Influences from the 1970s met oversized masculine tailoring, revealing his vision for Chanel’s next chapter. While the journey is just beginning, this first step makes clear that a new era is unfolding for one of fashion’s most iconic houses.
