Sydney Sweeney is back at the centre of the media conversation after a promotional stunt at the Hollywood sign that could carry legal consequences.

Sydney Sweeney is back in the Hollywood headlines, this time over a promotional action that could carry legal consequences. According to LA Times, the actress allegedly carried out a stunt at the iconic Hollywood sign without the necessary permits, as part of the launch of her brand Syrn by Sydney Sweeney.

Last Monday, 26 January, the actress shared a video on social media showing her accessing the area around the sign at night and throwing several bras — tied together — over some of the letters. Conceived as a viral marketing move, the action was reportedly neither communicated nor authorised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which holds the rights to the monument, nor by the Hollywood Sign Trust, the body responsible for its management and preservation.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has reiterated that any commercial use of the sign requires prior licensing, something that was allegedly not requested in this case. Meanwhile, TMZ reported that the production was not officially registered. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that, for now, no police report has been filed in relation to the incident.

The controversy arrives just months after Sweeney faced criticism over an advertising campaign for American Eagle, which was questioned for alleged racial undertones in its messaging. After weeks of silence, the actress publicly distanced herself from those interpretations.

Prior to that episode, the actress had also sparked media debate by launching a cosmetic product closely tied to her own image, reinforcing a marketing strategy that often operates on the edge between provocation and viral impact.

With this latest action in Hollywood, Sydney Sweeney once again finds herself walking the fine line between bold publicity and legal transgression — a space where media noise can ultimately lead to real-world consequences.
