Singer SZA takes on the role of Artistic Director at Vans, aiming to unite fashion, creativity, community, and authenticity.
The five-time Grammy Award winner and one of today’s most influential artists has been appointed as Vans’ new Artistic Director. In this role, she will collaborate with the brand to create exclusive collections and campaigns that reflect her unique vision and unmistakable style.
With a music career that includes the record-breaking Grand National Tour alongside Kendrick Lamar —the highest-grossing tour in history for a duo— SZA has also established herself as a fashion icon, breaking cultural stereotypes and championing self-acceptance. “As an Artistic Director, my mission is to show that joy, community, creativity, and fashion remain intersectional. I’ve been wearing Knu Skools and other models for years; they’ve always had a spirit I connect with,” she stated.

Her first campaign, described as “a dreamlike ode to expressing vulnerability through self-reflection, art, and style,” focuses on the Knu Skool model in black/white, one of her favourites. Shot by Sophie Jones and styled by Alejandra Hernandez, the concept reinterprets the 1997 skate-inspired design, featuring a padded tongue, 3D Sidestripe, and thick laces.
The campaign and model are now available on Vans’ official website, marking the start of a new creative chapter for both the artist and the brand.
