Taylor Swift will join forces with Ice Spice on a remix of her Midnight’s song “Karma”, and the two stars will don their best crystal-covered catsuits for the occasion.
Taylor Swift shared the collaboration news on Instagram and expressed her excitement about working with Ice Spice, whom she considers a brilliant artist. In her post, Swift shared a promotional photo of both artists together and stated that Ice Spice is unique and deserving of attention. The remix of “Karma ft. Ice Spice” will be released on May 25th at midnight ET as part of the latest re-release of Midnight’s ‘Til Dawn edition.
It’s interesting that this collaboration comes at a time when Swift is romantically involved with The 1975’s Matty Healy. Earlier this year, Healy made derogatory comments about Ice Spice’s ethnicity and appearance, as well as mocking her accent. These comments were deemed racist by many, and the episode was removed from Spotify and Apple, according to Billboard.
Healy addressed the incident during a concert in April and offered a sort of public apology. He acknowledged feeling bad and apologized if he had offended anyone. In particular, he apologized to Ice Spice, expressing that he didn’t mind his joke being misinterpreted but didn’t want Ice Spice to think poorly of him. He stated that he loves Ice Spice and sincerely apologized for any discomfort caused.
Additionally, Swift revealed that she and Lana Del Rey returned to the studio to record more of their duet on Midnight’s, “Snow on the Beach,” due to fan requests to hear more of Del Rey’s vocals on the song. Swift announced that this updated version will also be included in the ‘Til Dawn edition, along with the popular cult song “Hits Different.” Those attending the shows in East Rutherford will have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive tour CD that will include an additional track titled “You’re Losing Me,” a vault track. Could it be one of the songs Swift worked on with Healy and The 1975? Knowing Taylor, you never know.
