Jung Sung-il, star of Netflix’s popular K-drama series‘The Glory‘, has talked about how he wanted to play a different character in the series.

In the series, Jung plays Ha Do-yeong, the loving but cautious husband of antagonist Park Yeon-jin, who becomes involved in an elaborate revenge plot against his wife.

However, the actor revealed that this was not the role he initially wanted to play. In an interview with South Korean news outlet JTBC Jung said he wanted to play the character of Jeon Jae-joon, a rough and violent man.

“The public’s perspective through the media is that I’m always cynical when I wear a suit, I want to play characters outside of that,” Jung said. “Actually, I wanted to play Jeon Jae-joon‘s character. When I read the script, what I wanted to do was something raw like Jeon Jae-joon. I thought it would be fun.”he added.

Jung had previously talked about how “The Glory” had opened up new opportunities for him. “I’m getting offers for more diverse scripts and characters than before, and as an actor, it’s significant that my range of choices has expanded,” he told Dazed Korea.

For her part, the actress of “The Glory”, Lim Ji-yeon who played Park Yeon-jin, has talked about how she has lost followers on Instagram due to her role as the main antagonist in the series. “A lot of people said they don’t want to see me smile and they don’t want to see my face,” she said.
