The Jonas Brothers have sold part of their music to their father, consolidating a family legacy just ahead of their new album release.
Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas have made a decision that is as strategic as it is emotional: selling the publishing and recording rights to some of their more recent music to a company owned by their father, Kevin Jonas Sr., known as Jonas Group Entertainment Holdings, according to Billboard.
The deal includes albums such as Happiness Begins and The Album, as well as the singles Like It’s Christmas and Remember This. Nick Jonas’s solo album Spaceman is also part of the agreement.
Known to fans as Papa Jonas, Kevin Sr. revealed that he won the bid by committing to “care for their songs as an artist manager would”. In his words: “I don’t believe anyone can love their music more than I do, or be prouder.” His motivation, he explained, was not to pay less, but to bring the passion needed to keep their legacy alive.
For the Jonas Brothers, selling their rights to their father was a symbolic experience: “We are deeply committed to songwriting and the creative process. Leslie DiPiero, president of Jonas Group Publishing, has always been a champion of songwriters, and we’re excited to work with her and her team,” they said.
The news comes as the countdown begins for the release of their new album, Greetings From Your Hometown, scheduled for 8 August, just before the start of their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour, which kicks off on the 10th.
