Rihanna redefined the “soccer mom” concept with her unmistakable style at a recent Fenty x Puma event in Los Angeles.

Suburbia’s soccer moms have a lot to learn from Rihanna’s sporty-chic style. The star, who is now a mother of two, reinterpreted her own version of soccer mom at a Fenty x Puma event in Los Angeles, but ditching the typical messy minivan and yoga leggings.

Rihanna opted for a sweater-style dress that put a fresh spin on the classic oversized sweater, the favorite garment of many soccer moms. Created by Christopher John Rogers, the dress sported multicolored stripes reminiscent of candy and was adorned with black buttons that Rihanna strategically left unbuttoned to show off her Fenty x Puma Avanti sneakers. Although her sons, RZA and Riot, are still too young to play soccer, if they ever decide to run after the ball, their mother already has the perfect look to cheer them on from the stands.

“I was inspired by the culture of the sport,” Rihanna commented during the event, where she answered questions from some reporters, about what led her to design the sneakers. “I’ve always been fascinated with soccer cleats, even though I never played, not even in school… But there was always something about them, an aesthetic appeal that grabbed me.”

Rihanna added, “I wanted to show [RZA and Riot] a whole new world of creativity, because it’s something that might have been lost in my lifetime. But the fact that they get to see me design and reimagine things that already exist, that are part of the world and such a broad culture, is very meaningful to me. It’s a way for me to do what I love and allow them to experience that from the ground up.”

Rihanna shares RZA and Riot’ s upbringing with her partner, A$AP Rocky. In a recent interview, the artist spoke of her desire to expand her family alongside the rapper, saying she would be thrilled to have as many children “as God wants to give me.”

“Who knows what God has planned, but I would certainly want more than two,” she added. “I would like to try for a girl. But if another boy comes along, then let another boy come along.”
