Four months after its theatrical release and the success it achieved, the popular sequel to the 90s blockbuster is coming to streaming platforms.
If there was one movie that dominated the box office this past summer, it was ‘Twisters‘. Starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, the film exemplified a curious trend that has been emerging in Hollywood in recent years: the success of sequels released 20, 30, or even 40 years later, as seen with ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘, among others.

In the movie, we meet Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a meteorology student and storm chaser. Kate is searching for a way to reduce the intensity of tornadoes using chemical agents to secure a scholarship, but a fatal accident causes her to fail spectacularly. Years later, Kate is working at an environmental agency in New York, and thanks to Javi (Anthony Ramos), she gets the chance to join Storm Par, a private company that scans tornadoes in 3D. Alongside Javi and storm chaser and YouTuber Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), she embarks on a journey to Oklahoma to uncover the cause of the tornado outbreak occurring there.
The action film is the sequel to the 1996 movie ‘Twister‘, directed by Jan de Bont and starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. In 2020, plans for a sequel began to emerge, and various rumors circulated, such as Helen Hunt’s return or Joseph Kosinski, the director of ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ taking the helm. However, it was ultimately filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung who took on the challenge of directing the movie.
‘Twisters’ arrives on Max today, ending the wait for fans and giving them the chance to relive at home the same thrills and experiences they enjoyed in theaters.
