The Italian maison reinterprets one of its most recognisable designs through the vision of Alessandro Michele and places studs back at the centre of luxury fashion.

Valentino is once again looking back at one of the most influential moments in its recent history to revive an icon that defined an entire decade. The Italian house has just unveiled the new campaign for the Valentino Garavani Rockstud, a reinterpretation of the studded stilettos that redefined contemporary luxury aesthetics in the early 2010s.

The Pre-Fall 2026 collection also marks one of the most significant moves within the new creative era led by Alessandro Michele. Under his direction, the Rockstud sheds part of the glam-rock aggressiveness that defined its original version, transforming instead into something far more refined, nostalgic and deeply connected to the return of Y2K fashion.

Photographed in Rome by Johnny Dufort, the campaign creates an urban visual narrative where luxury merges with a relaxed and spontaneous attitude. The protagonists wander through the city in scenes that reference the classic figure of the flâneur, reinforcing the effortless elegance Michele has increasingly incorporated into his latest visual storytelling.

The new Rockstud retains some of the most recognisable codes of the original 2010 design, particularly the iconic metallic studs that quickly became synonymous with the house. However, the silhouette evolves into something sharper and more sophisticated. The updated versions feature dramatically pointed toes, platinum metallic finishes and Valentino’s signature red insoles, which continue to function as one of the brand’s most distinctive details.

One of the key elements of this reinterpretation lies in its versatility. The collection includes multiple heel heights, allowing the Rockstud to move seamlessly between eveningwear and everyday dressing. The decision also reflects a broader shift within the luxury industry, where fashion houses are increasingly seeking a balance between visual impact and real functionality.

In terms of colour, Alessandro Michele significantly expands the possibilities of the design. Alongside classic neutral shades, the collection introduces far more vibrant tones such as electric green, icy blue and metallic finishes that connect directly with the visual maximalism currently dominating fashion trends.
