The South Korean actor is facing a wave of online defamation that has already prompted a strong legal response.
GOLDMEDALIST, the agency representing South Korean actor Kim Soo-Hyun, has released a strong statement announcing legal action against malicious content circulating online. On 15 April, the company expressed its firm stance against the spread of defamatory comments, personal attacks, and speculative content aimed at damaging the actor’s reputation.
According to the statement, false information has been repeatedly circulated over recent weeks, distorting public perception and impacting Kim Soo-Hyun’s professional integrity. The agency filed an official complaint with the authorities on 14 April, citing the South Korean Information and Communications Network Act and the Criminal Code.
In their own words: “Malicious slander, the spread of false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment—rampant across online communities and social media—are criminal acts that must not be taken lightly.”
GOLDMEDALIST also warned about the growing threat of so-called “cyber wreckers”—users who, under the veil of anonymity, spread manipulated videos and fake news on platforms such as YouTube and X (formerly Twitter). The agency confirmed that it would pursue legal action outside South Korea as well, in collaboration with international representatives.
“We will continue to protect our artist’s rights with firm legal measures,” the statement concluded, reaffirming their commitment to Kim Soo-Hyun’s well-being and career.
