Zegna dazzled in Milan with an innovative collection based on exceptional merino wool, blending Turinese elegance and unique eco-friendly fabrics.
Alessandro Sartori, the genius behind Zegna, presented an impressive runway show on Monday afternoon, closing Milan’s men’s fashion week. His collection, inspired by the elegance of Turin, stood out with the introduction of the innovative ‘Vellus Aureum’ fabric line. This superfine thread, made from 100% eco-friendly and traceable Australian merino wool, takes centre stage in a collection that marks a milestone in men’s fashion.

Vellus Aureum refers to the mythical ‘Golden Fleece,’ and Zegna uses it to create four key materials: knit, flannel, wool cloth, and panno militare, all with exceptional softness and density. Despite the absence of synthetic fibres, the knit is surprisingly elastic, showcasing the quality of merino wool.
Staying true to his experimental style, Sartori proposed new forms of dressing with looser garments, lower waistlines, and wide trousers, inspired by Turin’s creatives from the ’70s and ’80s. The runway also featured houndstooth patterns and cashmere tweed jackets with a modern, sophisticated touch.
The setting, an Australian meadow with screens projecting images of merino sheep, completed the bucolic atmosphere of this unique show. Zegna continues to lead the pursuit of perfection in men’s fashion.
