Kylian Mbappé invests in Wristcheck, strengthening his commitment to luxury watchmaking and supporting his technology ecosystem focused on young collectors.
French footballer Kylian Mbappé, through his investment firm Coalition Capital, has joined luxury watch marketplace Wristcheck as its latest investor. With this move, the Real Madrid forward joins figures such as the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund (Gobi Partners GBA) and K3 Ventures, who are participating in the company’s pre-Series A funding round.
Beyond his impressive career, which includes seven Ligue 1 titles and a key role in France’s 2018 World Cup victory, Mbappé is a passionate watch enthusiast. His collaboration with Hublot as a brand ambassador and his selection of exclusive pieces reflect his interest in this sector.
“Wristcheck is a platform that truly understands the new generation of collectors. They are transforming the industry with an innovative approach that combines technology, transparency, and creativity,” said Mbappé, highlighting his enthusiasm for making watch collecting more accessible.
Wristcheck’s founder and CEO, Austen Chu, celebrated Mbappé’s involvement, emphasising his passion for watchmaking and the impact he will have on the industry. The platform, launched in 2020, has revolutionised the market with technological tools such as the Wristcheck Marketplace, which ensures authenticity and transparency in transactions, and the Wristcheck Watch Index, an AI-powered system for setting market prices.
Wristcheck’s growth has been remarkable, with a 218% year-on-year increase in its digital business and the opening of its first concept store at Wynn Macau in January 2025, becoming the first watch resale platform to have a presence in a Wynn casino.
With high-profile clients such as JAY-Z and Kevin Hart, Wristcheck continues to strengthen its influence in the luxury world. Mbappé’s investment will contribute to its global expansion and the development of new technological solutions for younger collectors.
