LISA takes a decisive leap into cinema as she leads ‘Tygo’, the ambitious new Korean action thriller produced by Netflix.
LISA, member of BLACKPINK, adds another milestone to her international career as she is confirmed as the star of ‘Tygo’, the upcoming Netflix action thriller expanding the successful ‘Extraction’ universe. The singer will share the screen with two heavyweights of Korean cinema: Don Lee —a true icon of Asian action— and Lee Jin-uk, widely known for his role in ‘Squid Game’.
The film marks a strong commitment from the streaming giant to fuse the narrative force of Western thrillers with the stylistic intensity of South Korean cinema. It’s no coincidence: the ‘Extraction’ franchise has become one of Netflix’s biggest action phenomena. The first instalment amassed over 90 million views in just one month, while its sequel topped the global Top 10 for seven consecutive weeks, surpassing 123 million views.
In ‘Tygo’, the plot dives into South Korea’s criminal underworld to follow the story of Tygo (played by Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary who seeks vengeance after a failed operation that changes the course of his life. The narrative is based on an original graphic novel created by Anthony and Joe Russo, the minds behind the saga’s initial concept, strengthening the direct connection to the Extraction universe.
For LISA, the project represents her feature-film debut following her appearance in the third season of ‘The White Lotus’. The artist shared her excitement in a statement: “Starring in an action film has always been a dream of mine, so making my cinematic debut with such an exciting project feels truly special.”
For his part, Don Lee hinted at the film’s spirit: “‘Tygo’ brings a distinctly Korean identity to the global Extraction universe, combining international action with the unique signature of our cinema.”
Although Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, all signs point to ‘Tygo’ becoming one of the most anticipated action premieres in the platform’s upcoming slate, solidifying LISA as an increasingly influential figure in the global audiovisual landscape.
