Burgeoning alt singer-songwriter Lia Pappas-Kemps ushers in her much-anticipated next chapter with the announcement of her debut album Winged, set for release on March 13, 2026 via Coalition Music. Alongside the announcement, Lia has unveiled Towers, a tender new single that will appear on the forthcoming LP.
Rooted in vulnerability and restraint, ‘Towers’ continues Lia’s gift for transforming internal moments into something cinematic and resonant. The track unfolds as an emotional reckoning, driven by propulsive guitar work, spacious production and her unmistakably intimate vocal delivery. With poetic lyricism and a slow-burn intensity, the song explores the fragile architecture of love, positioning itself as a fitting prelude to her full-length debut.
“‘Towers’ is a song I wrote in my living room in Montreal with my cousin Elia,” Lia explains. “It began with a demo that we listened to incessantly. Re-recording it was a pain because we became so attached to the demo, and eventually we ended up keeping most of those original elements. It’s about the tipping point of a relationship, when everything feels like it’s slipping. The last-ditch effort to preserve what you had with someone.”
Hailing from Toronto, the 21-year-old has quickly emerged as one of alternative music’s most compelling new voices, earning praise for her close-to-the-bone storytelling, evocative chord progressions and rich songwriting. Her work balances emotional clarity with striking melodic depth, drawing comparisons to early Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling and Alanis Morissette, as well as modern staples Soccer Mommy and Alvvays. Previous releases, including fan favourites ‘Jinx’ and her first EP Gleam, have accumulated millions of streams and widespread critical acclaim across North America and beyond.
