Justin Baldoni and Emily Baldoni have broken their silence following their legal settlement with Blake Lively, sharing how they are navigating their healing process.
Justin Baldoni has decided to break his silence after almost two years of keeping a low public profile. The actor and director, known for his work on It Ends With Us, shared a video on Instagram alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, in which they both spoke out for the first time after reaching a settlement in the legal dispute involving Blake Lively.
The message comes after a long period of media and legal tension that began in December 2024, when Blake Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation connected to the production of the film. The actor denied the allegations and later filed a $400 million lawsuit, which was dismissed in its entirety in June 2025. In May 2026, it was revealed that both parties had reached a settlement.
In the video, Justin Baldoni, 42, explained why both he and his wife had avoided speaking publicly during this time. “We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it is not because we did not have anything to say,” he began. “Because God knows we did, but every time we were about to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, and something was telling us not to. It simply did not feel like the right time, and we were talking about it, feeling through it and praying about it.”
His wife, Emily Baldoni, 41, added: “This feels like the moment. There is so much to say.” With those words, the couple made it clear that the statement marks a first step in sharing their emotional version of what they have experienced, although without going into every detail of the legal process.
During the conversation, Justin Baldoni insisted that they did not intend to go over everything that had happened, while Emily expressed deep gratitude towards those who have supported them over the past few years. The actor summed up that feeling with a clear phrase: “Gratitude has saved us.”
However, Emily wanted to clarify that this gratitude does not erase the pain or the sense of injustice that, she explained, they have also experienced. “It does not erase the injustice and the pain that we have also felt over the last few years. We have had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many others, like how something like this could even happen. And even more so when disguised as a fight for women. There is so much to unpack,” she said.
The couple also spoke about the emotional impact the situation has had on their personal lives. Emily said that they had both been through “a lot of trauma”, something that, she explained, has made it difficult for them to express themselves freely. Justin acknowledged that uncertainty, saying: “We do not even know if this is the right thing to say. We just know that we need to share something.”
The Jane the Virgin actor also explained that, over the past few years, many painful things had been spoken into existence and created an overwhelming amount of noise. “What I will say is that over the last few years, so many painful things have been said and brought into existence. That created so much noise, and we did not want to add to it. So we simply wanted to let the justice system run its course,” he stated.
For her part, Emily maintained that “the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves”, suggesting that they both believe the legal process has already marked a turning point in the story.
Speaking about how they are doing now, Justin Baldoni said that they are in the middle of a healing process. “We are healing. If you have ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing is not a linear process. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink what is real and what matters. It is this. It is our family, our friends, our community, who have been there for us, and our faith.”
Baldoni also said that he and Emily are more united than ever, stronger in their faith and grateful to those who, according to him, stood by them during the process. “Many of you had discernment, you used your intuition and you trusted it,” he said, before adding: “You have given your time to fight for us. Saying thank you does not feel like enough.”
The actor ended his message with a spiritual reflection on what he has learnt during this period. “When God presses the reset button and everything else disappears, that is when love shows up.” Emily replied: “And it did.”
