A sensational series on Netflix, a collaboration with Dior and a starring role in a blockbuster movie. Actress Jenna Ortega talks about #Wednesdaycore and how she’s living it all..
It could be assumed that Jenna Ortega is only behind the screen. However, the ‘Wednesday‘ actress has served up many red carpet looks lately. From Versace high gloss or Saint Laurent hoodies, to Gucci with fur.
The 20-year-old declares that she prefers to keep it simple, especially in her beauty rituals. “Maybe it’s because of my chaotic lifestyle, but I’m really drawn to a more minimalist, neutral aesthetic,” she explains. “Often, I’m away from home, so I need things that comfort me, give me relief and relax me.”

It makes sense as the star is having a pretty epic year. The premiere of ‘Scream VI‘ is just around the corner. In addition, she is currently filming a movie with singer The Weeknd, and has just finished production on two other highly anticipated films. And as important news, she has just been named the new face of the Dior Gris fragrance.

“That was really exciting,” he says of his involvement with the iconic French house. She loves the balanced unisex touches of the fragrance and the format of the bottle. However, the main reason for this collaboration is to work with other fashion legends such as Bardia Zeinali and Mikael Jansson.
“I felt like it really encouraged me to be myself. I felt like I could follow my own instinct and do what felt authentic and natural to me.”

It turns out that feeling confident about being herself is something relatively new. “I mean, I’ve been acting for over a decade, so I know what it’s like to not necessarily be heard or feel like I have a voice,” she explains. “I was so desperate to be what I felt people wanted me to be. And I felt that traditional beauty standards really affected me; they didn’t always resonate with me.”.
It wasn’t until her starring role in‘Wednesday‘ that Ortega says she finally began to feel freer.. With this piece the actress cut her bangs, sporting the famous ‘wolf cut‘, and dyed her virgin hair black, freeing herself both stylistically and personally.

The gothic aesthetics of his television persona has helped to make Ortega Ortega to experiment and be more creative. It has also been very well received by the public. “I’ve always respected the gothic culture. I’ve always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I could express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself.”
Finally, freckles are another of her stylistic strengths. “There was a time when, for sure, I opted for heavy makeup,” she notes with regret. “But I’ve definitely learned that beauty is more about enhancing your natural features than trying to hide them. I‘ve realized that less is more.”
