Disney and Pixar surprise us with their new film, Elemental, and the first non-binary character, Lake.
“I get to play Pixar’s first non-binary character! Meet Lake!” says Ava Kai Hauser, the voice actor behind the character Lake in the film, using “they/them” pronouns.
This has been a big surprise for the LGBTQIA+ community, as it was announced on the film’s release date. “I give voice to Lake in the new film Elemental,” Hauser continued. “I’m going to see it in theaters tonight with my friends, so you can also see them in theaters if you want to.”
But Disney and Pixar don’t seem to stop their representation here. In 2021, they announced that they were looking for their “first transgender voice actor” to play the character “Jess.”
