We did it, Honey Bee! Lady Gaga just provided the update on the ‘Telephone’ sequel that fans have been waiting for.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of her concert film, Gaga: Chromatica Ball, on May 23, Mother Monster was asked about a possible continuation of her 2010 duo with Queen Bey. “Whenever Beyoncé calls, I’d like to answer the phone,” Lady Gaga said, suggesting that she would be open to a second installment of “Telephone.”
Background
Released in 2010 as the second single from Gaga’s EP, The Fame Monster, ‘Telephone’ stormed the charts worldwide, selling over 7 million copies in a single year.
Starring Gaga and Beyoncé, the song’s music video also swept the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and NME ranked “Telephone” 17th on its list of the 100 greatest music videos of all time.
Speculation of the Sequel
The music video itself was a sequel to Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ video, in which she is arrested for murdering her boyfriend. In ‘Telephone,’ Beyoncé bails Gaga out of jail, and the dynamic duo embark on another killing spree together.
At the end of the short film, the words ‘To Be Continued’ appear on screen as Gaga and Bey walk away together in their ‘Pussy Wagon.’
The phrase sparked theories among fans that they would one day release a sequel to the song following their two previous collaborations (they also sang together on 2009’s ‘Video Phone’).

Theories About “Telephone” Part 2
Following Beyoncé’s surprise announcement of Cowboy Carter in February, both Little Monsters and the Beyhive drew attention to a car Beyoncé drives in a teaser for ‘Texas Hold ‘Em,’ which closely resembled the yellow truck in ‘Telephone.’
At the 2024 Super Bowl, attended by Gaga and Bey, Mother Monster shared an apparently cryptic photo of her view of the stadium on Instagram, making a peace sign. Fans then speculated that Gaga’s sign was actually a two, hinting at an Easter egg about ‘Telephone’ 2.0.
Unfortunately for fans, the series of viral theories turned out to be incorrect, as Gaga did not appear in Cowboy Carter, and we’re still awaiting that ‘Telephone’ sequel.
Update on Gaga’s New Album
Gaga also shared an exciting update about her upcoming album at the recent premiere of the Chromatica Ball film, hinting that it is “completely different” from her previous work.
“I’ve been working on my new music all this time and really living and breathing this,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I can’t wait to give it to the fans.” As for a possible release date, she joked, “They hate when I say ‘soon,’ but soon.”
