A$AP Rocky reveals how fatherhood has transformed his life and explains why Rihanna’s current pregnancy feels completely different.
Now both a family man and an artist in transition, A$AP Rocky has spoken candidly about how the arrival of his children has reshaped his inner world. In a recent interview with GQ, the 36-year-old rapper reflected on the emotional impact of fatherhood and how his partner, Rihanna, is experiencing her third pregnancy in a new way.
“The evolution of who I am as a person, as a father and as an artist… it’s been really fucking interesting, if you ask me,” he admitted. “Everyone can see how much I’ve longed to be a loving father. I’ve got nothing but love to give these little ones. They take up a huge part of my heart’s capacity: my family.”
Father to three-year-old RZA and 22-month-old Riot, Rocky acknowledged that each pregnancy has brought unique lessons, and this third one with Rihanna is no exception. “This experience has been so different compared to the last two. Nothing is the same. Each experience is unique in its own way. And this is no exception.”
Beyond his paternal side, the artist also shared details about the creative references behind his upcoming album, citing influences such as German Expressionism, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Pee-wee’s Playhouse. His children, however, are not yet part of that world. “My kids are at that stage where they enjoy children’s songs, animated sounds. They’re only two and three, they don’t yet understand what I do.”
Even so, Rocky anticipates with a smile the moment when his children will ask: “Dad, what are you doing?” Until then, he seems to relish every instant of this new chapter, where his artistic identity and family life come together in a more human harmony than ever.
