Anne Hathaway redefines motherhood with her style in the promotion of “The Idea of You.” A glimpse into her unique elegance.
Anne Hathaway spares no effort in her acting craft. Whether performing her own stunts as Catwoman or shaving her head on-screen for Les Misérables, the actress has always been willing to go above and beyond for a role. And this includes her most recent portrayal in The Idea of You, as Solène, a 40-year-old single mother who enjoys a whirlwind romance with Hayes Campbell, a 24-year-old singer (Nicholas Galitzine), after meeting at Coachella.
In an era of relentless methodical wardrobe, stars are mimicking tennis champions, intergalactic princesses, and dolls to promote their films. But with her latest role, Hathaway doesn’t have the opportunity to dive into any overt mythology. Still, that hasn’t stopped her from embodying her character: the coolest mom.

Hathaway has explored the cool mom look in various ways during her promotional tour so far. Last night, the actress stepped out of the 92nd Street Y sporting a three-piece black leather suit from Ralph Lauren, complete with a tie. Yesterday, she leaned into her feminine side with a sweet Patou look: a white mini dress with a matching short-sleeved jacket, accompanied by white stockings and pointed shoes. Later in the day, Hathaway opted for something a bit more sensual that we can imagine her character would wear at Coachella. Rocking a sky blue skirt set from Simkhai, she nailed the sheer trend, while the sculptural hem of the skirt reminds us of the lettuce hemlines of the 90s.
But actions speak louder than outfits, and the actress proved to be the ultimate cool mom when a commotion broke out over the chance to get her autograph. Speaking in a calm and soothing tone, she encouraged everyone to breathe and not push other people in the crowd. “I’ll get to everyone,” she reassured them.
