BTS release ‘ARIRANG’, their highly anticipated fifth studio album, featuring 14 tracks that connect their Korean identity with a more mature and experimental sound.
After nearly four years away, BTS officially return to the music scene with ‘ARIRANG’, their fifth studio album and one of the most anticipated global releases. The project arrives following a hiatus of three years and nine months, signalling a new artistic chapter for the group.
‘ARIRANG’ is not just a comeback, but a statement of identity. The album takes its name from the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang”, weaving cultural elements throughout its narrative. From the opening track “Body to Body”, which incorporates traditional percussion, to an interlude shaped by the sound of the historic Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, Korean influence becomes the conceptual core of the record.
The creative process took place in Los Angeles during the summer of 2025, where members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook actively contributed to songwriting and production. They were joined by a world-class roster of producers including Diplo, Ryan Tedder, Mike WiLL Made-It, Flume, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, El Guincho and JPEGMAFIA, expanding the album’s sonic scope.
The lead single “SWIM” drives the release with an alternative pop approach, blending classic drums, lo-fi synths and a powerful bassline. Co-written by RM, the track reflects the group’s evolving musical direction.
Beyond its sound, the album introduces more mature themes, exploring universal emotions through a more introspective lens. Even the visual identity reinforces this evolution, moving away from their previous aesthetic towards a more refined and sophisticated narrative.
With ‘ARIRANG’, BTS do not simply return — they redefine their place in the industry. The message is clear: they are back, but in a more complex, self-aware and globally attuned form.
