Chanel dazzled at Villa d’Este with its Cruise 2026 collection, blending cinema, craftsmanship, and history in a luxurious setting on the shores of Lake Como.

Chanel chose the legendary Villa d’Este as the dreamlike backdrop for unveiling its Cruise 2026 collection, a tribute to fashion, film and classic elegance in a place steeped in cultural heritage. Chanel paid homage to film director Luchino Visconti, a prominent former resident, and the unforgettable Romy Schneider, evoking the cinematic charm of Boccaccio ’70 through a collection steeped in sophistication.

Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s president of fashion, emphasised how Villa d’Este reinforces the house’s long-standing relationship with the world of cinema. Director Sofia Coppola marked the occasion with a short film set at the hotel, enriching the show’s storytelling. Still in a transitional phase under newly appointed creative director Matthieu Blazy, the collection combined fluid silhouettes, luxurious fabrics, and intricate artisan details inspired by the villa’s blooming gardens.

Keira Knightley lit up the runway in a floor-length white silk gown, while younger audiences were drawn in by lilac tweed miniskirts and gold damask suits with a subtle disco flair.

Coinciding with Chanel’s recent investment in historic silk specialist Mantero, the show underlined the brand’s deep commitment to Italian craftsmanship. As Pavlovsky stated, “Investing today ensures we lead tomorrow.
