Jennifer Lopez Speaks Candidly About the “Painful” Rejection on Social Media
Jennifer Lopez opens up about the impact of rejection on social media and her recent separation from Ben Affleck.
Jennifer Lopez has had a turbulent year, marked by the cancellation of her tour and her divorce from Ben Affleck. For the first time, the singer and actress discusses these topics in a conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine.
Lopez confessed that she felt her “world exploded” after the release of her musical drama This Is Me… Now in February, at which point she announced both the cancellation of her U.S. tour and her separation from Affleck. During the interview, she mentioned being aware of the negative comments about her personal life and career on social media but clarified that these do not reflect “who I am as a person.”
“Social media came after I had already been in the public eye for a while, so I don’t take it as seriously as others,” she explained. Although she has learned to handle the negative side of social media, she admits that it sometimes affects her: “I’m not made of iron; if I see something hurtful, of course it hurts me.” However, she emphasized that what really matters to her is doing “work that inspires me.”
Regarding her breakup with Affleck, Lopez acknowledged that it was difficult, but now she sees it as something necessary: “Thank God, even though it took me a long time to realize it.”
