Jisoo and Zayn Malik dropped ‘Eyes Closed’ without prior notice, sparking a digital frenzy filled with romance and restrained emotion.
The international pop world has just witnessed an unexpected twist. On Thursday, 9 October, Jisoo and Zayn Malik released the official preview of ‘Eyes Closed’, their first-ever duet, also confirming the music video’s release date: 10 October at 12 AM EST / 1 PM KST.
The 18-second teaser opens with the British artist in a rotating frame before the South Korean star joins him. Together, they whisper the song’s central line: “We should fall in love with our eyes closed.” A phrase as intimate as it is enigmatic, enough to send both fandoms into overdrive.
The track’s production is handled by The Monsters & Strangerz, the hit-making team behind Justin Bieber’s ‘Ghost’, Camila Cabello’s ‘Liar’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Memories’. And although Zayn had dropped hints during his September livestream — when he mentioned working with “a great collaborator” — no one suspected he was referring to Jisoo.
“We thought it might be Louis Tomlinson, given their recent public reunion, but it turns out she was the mysterious collaborator,” fans noted.
Rumours of a connection between the two artists began circulating in July, when Zayn was spotted with his daughter Khai at a BLACKPINK concert in New York. Now, with this official announcement, one of the year’s most surprising collaborations has been confirmed.
