Kim Kardashian resurrects vintage fashion with an iconic Tom Ford design from the Gucci era at Jay-Z’s party.

The growing appetite among celebrities for vintage trophy pieces has brought us red carpet appearances showcasing rare creations by Thierry Mugler, Azzedine Alaïa, and Gianni Versace. However, it’s the legendary Tom Ford era at Gucci in the 90s and early 2000s that truly captivates the stars. In 2017 and 2018, Kim Kardashian, a renowned collector of coveted fashion gems, played a prominent role in championing the luxury vintage fashion movement by flaunting some of Ford’s most elusive pieces (who can forget that controversial Gucci thong). Recently, she unveiled another notable find from this seminal moment in fashion history.

At Jay-Z‘s pre-Grammy party in Hollywood over the weekend, the Skims founder stole the show by donning a rare Tom Ford Gucci era creation. Her all-black ensemble consisted of a black leather halter top from Chrome Hearts, cropped and snug, featuring a high neckline, an open back, and a crucifix engraved in the center. To complement this sultry top, she wore low-rise suede Gucci pants designed by Tom Ford, with lace-up details running along each leg. Finally, Kim added multitone brown snake-skin open-toe heels and carried an elegant black clutch.

Her recent appointment as a brand ambassador for Balenciaga might lead one to assume she would predominantly wear pieces from the house (she has certainly had her phases with Balenciaga in the past), but Kim has continued to promote both contemporary trends and historical fashion finds, as evidenced by her latest look. During last month’s haute couture week, she wore a beautiful Maison Margiela Artisanal dress with strategically placed cuts, paired with coordinated Tabi heels.
