Miu Miu’s SS24 show at Paris Fashion Week delivered an unexpected twist, challenging the brand’s iconic reputation with mixed results.

Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu brought an unusual conclusion to Paris Fashion Week, as the legendary designer, known for dressing the most fashion-forward individuals, fell short of expectations in the Spring/Summer 2024 season, leaving attendees with mixed feelings. The venue for the show was the Palais D’Iena art museum in the heart of the capital, but the anticipated electrifying atmosphere was notably absent.

As guests entered the venue, they were greeted by historic columns and grand screens, a collaboration with Sophia Al-Maria; however, the expected magic failed to materialize. The show unfolded as a supernatural experience, but it lacked the impact that Miu Miu typically delivers. Models graced the runway wearing a collection that, unlike past seasons, failed to meet expectations and seemed somewhat disconnected from the brand’s identity.

Miu Miu’s SS24 collection lacked the vintage charm that is typically synonymous with the brand. Embroidered school uniforms, checkered shirts, and double-layered pieces failed to captivate the audience. While ruffled tops and branded speedos attempted to inject a sense of fun, the designs fell short, deviating from the brand’s signature aesthetic.

The runway featured appearances by celebrities such as Troye Sivan, Gigi Hadid, and Cailee Spaeny, who tried to infuse energy into the event. However, they couldn’t salvage the overall impression that this runway show fell far short of the anticipated highlight. Miuccia Prada took her final bow alongside Fabio Zambernardi, closing a show that, unfortunately, didn’t live up to the usual Miu Miu standards.
