Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied have finalized their divorce after 11 years of marriage, confirmed a representative for Portman.

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied have gone their separate ways after 11 years of marriage. The Academy Award-winning actress and the French choreographer discreetly separated last year, and their divorce was finalized last month, Portman’s representative confirmed to People. The news comes after rumors last June that Millepied had an extramarital affair. Since then, Portman has been photographed without her wedding ring.

Portman and Millepied first met on the set of Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” in 2009, where Portman played the lead role of dancer Nina Sayers, and Millepied choreographed the extensive dance sequences of the film and also played the role of David Moreau. The two began dating shortly thereafter, and the following year, they got engaged, and Portman was pregnant with their first child.

“Black Swan” saw Portman win her first Oscar in February 2011, for Best Actress, which she dedicated to Millepied. “To my beautiful love, Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed the film and has now given me the most important role of my life,” she said during her speech, while gesturing to her stomach.

The couple married in 2012 at a private estate in Big Sur, California, where the actress wore a Rodarte dress and a simple flower garland in her hair. Although details of the ceremony were kept under wraps, Portman shared a rare throwback photo in 2020 to honor their eighth wedding anniversary, showing the couple dancing at the reception.

Portman and Millepied have two children together, 12-year-old Aleph and 6-year-old Amalia.
