Princess Leonor and Queen Letizia shined at Spain’s National Day celebrations, each showing off their patriotic style in unique ways. Princess Leonor, 18, continues her military training and joined her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, to preside over the traditional military parade in Madrid. Leonor, the future commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, wore her cadet dress uniform, known as “14 buttons”, worn by students at the Naval Military School. She is the first Spanish princess to receive this training, marking a milestone in the country’s history.
On the other hand, Queen Letizia opted for an outfit that reflected the colors of the Spanish flag. She wore an elegant red dress by Poète, paired with a Hugo Boss trench coat, a modern outfit in keeping with the occasion. After the parade, the royal family headed to the Royal Palace in Madrid, where the princess presided over her first official act in the Throne Room.
Columbus Day not only celebrates Spain’s history, but also its connection to the Spanish-speaking world. During his speech, King Felipe highlighted Leonor’s commitment to her military training and her future role as Queen.
