Ressence and BUAISOU present the TYPE 8 INDIGO, a unique watch with a dial adorned with hand-dyed silk thread, combining craftsmanship with innovative design.
Ressence, known for its innovative watches, has launched the ‘TYPE 8 INDIGO’, a captivating model inspired by the traditional Japanese indigo dyeing art. This release celebrates the recent expansion of Shellman’s store in Tokyo, a key partner of Ressence, and is part of the ‘The Indigo Project,’ led by Shellman.
To integrate indigo into the design, Ressence collaborated with BUAISOU specialists, incorporating hand-dyed silk thread into the watch’s dial. This artisan element, rare in watchmaking, creates an organic pattern that evokes the delicacy of embroidery. “This is the first time we’ve incorporated such a craft technique into one of our watches,” explained Benoît Mintiens, founder of Ressence. The natural variation in the thread color creates a subtle gradient effect, giving each piece uniqueness.

The TYPE 8 INDIGO is made of Grade 5 titanium and has a diameter of 42.9 mm. It operates with the patented ‘Ressence Orbital Convex System 8’ and offers a 36-hour power reserve.
Completed with a warm gray Saffiano calf leather strap, this special model is available to admire at the ‘Shellman Isetan Shinjuku Watch Shop’ in Tokyo.
