The actress may be preparing to transition from Marvel to DC, joining the highly anticipated sequel directed by Matt Reeves in a still-undisclosed role.

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly close to stepping into the dark universe of Gotham City. According to Nexus Point News, the actress is in advanced conversations to join the cast of ‘The Batman Part II’, the sequel led by Robert Pattinson under the direction of Matt Reeves.

Although no official confirmation has been made regarding the character she may portray, rumours suggest that Johansson could play Bruce Wayne’s new romantic interest, especially given the reported absence of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. At the end of the first film, Selina Kyle left Gotham, leaving the door open for a new emotional chapter for Batman.

Several iconic female characters from the DC universe are being speculated as potential roles for Johansson: Andrea Beaumont / Phantasm, Pamela Isley / Poison Ivy, Vicki Vale, or Julie Madison. Any of these choices would introduce an intriguing twist within the noir tone established by Reeves for the franchise.

Johansson’s involvement would also mark a striking shift in her career, having spent over a decade deeply associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe through her portrayal of Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow. Her move to DC would add further gravitas to a saga already praised for its psychological and atmospheric approach.

‘The Batman Part II’ was officially announced in April 2022, and its release has since faced multiple delays. Initially scheduled for October 2025, the premiere was moved first to 2026 and eventually set for 1 October 2027.
