Teyana Taylor stars in Alaïa’s Summer Fall 2026 campaign, where dance, strength and femininity transform every garment through movement.

Teyana Taylor adds another chapter to her close relationship with fashion as the leading face of Alaïa’s Summer Fall 2026 campaign. The multidisciplinary artist brings her powerful physical presence to a project in which the body is no longer simply a vehicle for displaying clothes, but becomes a fundamental part of their expression.

The choice feels particularly fitting for the world of Alaïa, a house historically fascinated by the construction of the female silhouette and the relationship between fabric, anatomy and movement. Taylor, a singer, actress, dancer and performer, brings precisely the kind of expressive language in which every gesture carries meaning.

The campaign also revisits a connection that has been part of the maison’s identity for decades. Alaïa has previously worked with women whose stage presence was every bit as important as their image, including legendary figures such as Grace Jones and Tina Turner. Taylor now brings a contemporary interpretation of that same spirit.

Capturing this energy is photographer David Sims, who opts for striking black-and-white imagery that removes any potential distraction from colour. The result immediately directs attention towards proportions, volumes, textures and, above all, the interaction between the clothes and the body.

Taylor does not remain static in front of the camera. She stretches, turns, bends and constantly changes her posture, allowing the garments to react to every movement. This athletic dimension creates a visual tension that makes the construction of the designs easier to appreciate, while demonstrating how the same piece can be transformed depending on the position of the body.

Dance therefore becomes a narrative device. It is not simply a question of incorporating choreography-inspired poses, but of using Taylor’s experience as a performer to explore the possibilities of the collection. Each photograph appears to capture a single instant within a much larger sequence, as though the camera had temporarily frozen a live performance.

The beauty direction maintains the same direct approach. Yadim Carranza is responsible for make-up, while Rio Sreedharan creates the hair. Both work within an aesthetic that avoids competing with the intensity of the photographs, allowing Taylor’s features and expressive presence to retain their full impact.

The concept continues through a campaign film composed of moving portraits. The audiovisual format expands on what the still photographs already suggest, turning the body into a language in its own right. Teyana Taylor’s experience on stage gives rhythm to the garments and demonstrates how movement can reveal elements of a design that would be impossible to appreciate through a completely static pose.

For the artist herself, taking part in the project also has a deeply personal dimension. Taylor has spoken about her longstanding admiration for Alaïa and the immediate connection she felt with a collection that brings together two concepts that are also central to her own identity: femininity and strength.

That combination becomes one of the defining ideas behind the campaign. Femininity is presented without fragility, while strength does not require sacrificing sensuality or elegance. Instead, the two qualities coexist naturally through the way Taylor inhabits the clothes and uses her body to communicate.

With Teyana Taylor as the face of Alaïa Summer Fall 2026, the house continues its tradition of celebrating performers capable of commanding attention through movement alone, turning fashion into something dynamic, physical and powerfully expressive.
