Chris Colfer and Darren Criss surprise Glee fans with a reunion at London’s Royal Albert Hall, reviving their unforgettable duet as rumours of a series comeback grow.

Chris Colfer and Darren Criss have given Glee fans a moment they had been waiting years to see. The actors, who portrayed Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson in the hugely successful musical television series, reunited on Sunday, 18 October, for a surprise performance of Baby It’s Cold Outside at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The unexpected appearance brought one of the show’s most memorable musical moments back to life, 16 years after it first aired.

The reunion took place during Darren Criss’s exclusive London concert, where the 39-year-old performer was preparing to sing the Christmas classic. What initially appeared to be a solo performance quickly became something far more special when his former co-star walked onto the stage, prompting an enthusiastic reaction from the audience.

Before Colfer’s entrance, Criss joked that he was perfectly capable of performing both parts of the duet himself. “It’s not supposed to be like that, but I’ve managed to pull off so many things,” the actor reportedly told the crowd, according to Variety.

Moments later, Chris Colfer, now 36, appeared with a characteristically witty remark. “The only thing inappropriate about doing this song is doing it without me,” he declared, instantly recreating the playful chemistry that made their characters one of television’s most beloved couples.

The performance carried particular significance for longtime followers of Glee, as Kurt and Blaine originally performed the song during the show’s second season in 2010. Their rendition became a defining moment in the development of their relationship, which would go on to become one of the series’ most celebrated storylines.

Originally written by Frank Loesser in 1944, Baby It’s Cold Outside has been interpreted by numerous artists over the decades. However, for an entire generation of television viewers, the version performed by Colfer and Criss remains closely associated with the romantic storyline that helped establish their characters as fan favourites.

The surprise reunion also arrives at a time when interest in a potential Glee revival is growing. In September, the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, revealed that he had completed a script for a possible return of the musical series.

“I just finished the script an hour ago. We have a script. Brad [Falchuk] and Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something,” Murphy explained during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on 23 September.

The producer also confirmed that he had contacted several original cast members, including Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale and Amber Riley, raising hopes that audiences could eventually see familiar faces return to the fictional halls of McKinley High School.

Although no official revival has been announced, the possibility has generated renewed excitement among fans of the series, which concluded in 2015 after six seasons.

Since leaving Glee, both actors have pursued successful careers in different creative fields. Darren Criss received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and has continued developing his theatre career, including his involvement in the Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending.

Meanwhile, Chris Colfer has established himself as a bestselling author through his popular fantasy book series The Land of Stories, while also preparing to return to acting in the upcoming film The Restoration at Grayson Manor.
