Hilary Duff returns to the recording studio after 10 years with husband Matthew Koma. The millennial icon is embracing nostalgia and fresh sounds in her long-awaited pop comeback.

Hilary Duff is officially back in the recording studio, and this time, it’s personal. Ten years after the release of her last studio album ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’, the 37-year-old star is embracing a new musical chapter — and she’s doing it with the support of her husband, renowned songwriter and producer Matthew Koma.

Known for penning chart-toppers like Zedd’s ‘Clarity’ and collaborating with Britney Spears and Carly Rae Jepsen, Koma is said to be a driving force behind Duff’s creative revival. Together, the couple has already begun working on fresh material, with a focus on making music that feels both authentic and proudly pop.

Adding fuel to the comeback rumours, Duff recently signed with CAA, one of the most powerful talent agencies in the world — a move that suggests she’s ready to take things seriously. According to sources close to the singer, there’s no pressure for a full album just yet, but the mood is optimistic: “The goal is to make music she loves and that her fans will love, too.”

In fact, the timing couldn’t be better. With millennial nostalgia taking over the charts and pop culture — from Lindsay Lohan’s acting resurgence to Avril Lavigne teaming up with Simple Plan — Duff’s team believes the moment is ripe for a return.

Earlier this year, in a candid podcast interview, Hilary opened up about why she hadn’t returned to music sooner, pointing to motherhood, personal growth, and the fear of not living up to expectations. That heartfelt reflection now seems like a prelude to the creative awakening she’s currently experiencing.

Since the release of her last record, Duff has mainly focused on acting, with standout roles in ‘Younger’ and ‘How I Met Your Father’. She’s also the chief brand officer of fragrance label Below 60 and a full-time mum of four. Still, the pull of music never truly faded. According to insiders, it was Koma who encouraged her to revisit the studio and explore a sound that felt right for this stage in her life.

Over the weekend, fans got a first glimpse of her comeback when Koma shared a photo of Duff in the recording booth, captioned: “Please go save millennial pop music, it needs you now more than ever.” The post went viral, proving her audience is ready — perhaps even desperate — for her return.

Back in her heyday, Duff was one of the defining pop stars of the early 2000s. With two Billboard 200 No. 1 albums (‘Metamorphosis’ and ‘Most Wanted’), hits like Come Clean’, ‘So Yesterday’ and ‘Wake Up’, and box-office smashes including ‘A Cinderella Story’ and ‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’, she shaped a generation.

Now, she’s not aiming for chart domination — just connection. And that, paired with a wave of nostalgia and a loyal fanbase, might be the magic formula for a very 2025 kind of pop comeback.
