Troye Sivan unveils ‘FF’, a song about a love that has yet to arrive, accompanied by a music video filmed on Fire Island with Felix Mayr.

Troye Sivan is once again making headlines with the release of ‘FF’, his latest single from his fourth studio album, ‘She’s the Best’. The Australian singer has unveiled the track alongside a music video starring Swedish actor Felix Mayr, who plays his love interest in a story defined by sensuality, desire and the search for an emotional connection. The release once again places the artist at the centre of the music conversation, revealing his most romantic and vulnerable side.

The song’s title is an abbreviation of ‘Fing Forever’***, an expression that could be interpreted as a declaration of everlasting love. However, the track’s true meaning goes far beyond a conventional relationship. This time, Sivan sings about someone he has yet to meet and the possibility of building a love story that, for now, exists only in his imagination.

The singer himself has explained that ‘FF’ is not dedicated to a particular partner, but rather to the man with whom he hopes to share his future. It is an idea that transforms loneliness, uncertainty and the desire to find love into an emotionally charged composition.

“‘FF’ is an undying love song to a man I don’t know yet. Or at least I don’t think I do. It’s me at my most longing, and about how lonely it is to love someone who isn’t here yet. It might sound like a vow, but it’s really a wish,” the artist explained when introducing the release.

To bring this story to life, Troye Sivan has once again collaborated with Gordon von Steiner, a director and long-standing creative partner of the musician. The result is a music video filmed on Fire Island, one of the most iconic destinations for the LGBTQ+ community in the United States, which provides the setting for a visual narrative centred on attractiozn and intimacy.

In the video, Felix Mayr shares the spotlight with Sivan, portraying a romantic connection that reflects the song’s emotional universe. The choice of the Swedish actor brings a cinematic dimension to the project, while the setting reinforces the blend of sensuality and nostalgia that defines the release.

The music video also continues one of the singer’s defining artistic approaches: using fashion, imagery and physical expression as tools to develop his musical narratives. This time, the focus is on an imagined relationship that appears to take shape through the visuals.

During an interview with Billboard, Sivan explored the meaning behind the track in greater depth and acknowledged that it is one of the songs he feels particularly proud of.

“‘FF’ is a love song, 100% through and through. The thing is, that I don’t know who I am in love with yet,” he said.

The singer also explained how he wanted to translate that sense of longing into the music itself. “I wanted it to have this heaviness to it and this weight that kind of feels like the longing. It’s a love song that feels like it drags you through the mud with it, and I just really, really love it. I’m really proud of the lyrics as well,” he added.

“I’m really proud of it,” he concluded.
