Ryan Gosling knows that Ken gives credit where it is due, and he’s doing the same when it comes to his style in Barbie.
This means the actor is acknowledging Jimin, a member of BTS, who wore one of Ken’s outfits in a music video two years before the movie’s premiere.
Ryan took to social media to recognize the hitmaker and offer him a gift in return for borrowing the distinctive outfit. Ryan even revealed who he thought wore the outfit better!
The look in question is a Western-style shirt with white fringe and floral details. Ryan paired it with a white cowboy hat and a bright pink bandana while wearing it next to Barbie, played by Margot Robbie. Meanwhile, Jimin wore the shirt in BTS’s “Permission to Dance” music video.
“Hi, Jimin. It’s Ryan Gosling here. I noticed that your outfit in ‘Permission to Dance’ is the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming Barbie movie,” Ryan acknowledged in a video shared on Twitter.
He continued, saying, “I have to admit that you wore it first. You definitely wore it better, and there’s an unwritten code among Kens that if you copy another Ken’s style, you have to give them your most prized possession.”
What did Ryan offer? Ken’s shiny guitar. “Ken doesn’t really play much anyway, so it’ll be much better in your hands,” he added.
There’s no word yet if Jimin accepted the offer, but we’ll keep you updated if we learn more.
