During the city’s Film Festival, the One Night Only event showcased the designer’s Spring 2023 Privé collection, alongside stars like Jessica Chastain, Sophia Loren, and more.

At the risk of falling into clichés, there is no other way to describe how Giorgio Armani approaches his projects: by putting his whole heart into them. So much so that the designer displayed deep emotions at the Arsenale location before his Privé runway show on Saturday night here, as part of his latest One Night Only event.

“It’s hard to hold back tears when you see young and old people from different walks of life approaching me, asking for a photograph, and being equally moved,” said Armani, visibly emotional.

The one-night event in Venice coincided with the Venice Film Festival, and although the list of actors attending the show would be long, they refrained from making comments due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes in the United States.

The designer, who turned 89 in July, attributed his “authenticity, honesty, and frankness” to this wave of affection, elements that “awaken hidden feelings” in people.

The collection presented at the event ranged from charming jackets with embossed patterns to exquisitely embroidered evening gowns, reflecting the incredible craftsmanship behind the designs. This points to Armani’s lifelong connection to cinema and his company’s ties to Hollywood.

Armani strongly defended his independence instead of following the trend of growth through mergers and acquisitions by large luxury groups. He closed 2022 with revenues of 2.35 billion euros, an increase of 16.5 percent compared to the previous year.

The One Night Only Venice 2023 event was specifically designed to have minimal environmental impact, in compliance with ISO 20121. The Armani Group will offset all residual greenhouse gas emissions related to the event by supporting environmental projects to preserve the ecological balance of the Venice Lagoon and restore its ecosystem and biodiversity.
